Photo/video editing machine help

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: This Week

Budget Range: (e.g.: 300-400) $1000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Main use of the system is photo and video editing

Are you buying a monitor: Not will this budget but will source a new monitor soon

Parts to Upgrade: Everything, I am replacing a 2005 Pentium 4/windows XP machine

Do you need to buy OS: Yes - Would consider Windows 8 but prefer 7

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg

Location: City, State/Region, Country - Utah, USA

Parts Preferences: No brand preference but want quality parts over just the cheapest

Overclocking: Maybe - Don't know enough to determine it's feasiblity to my needs

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe - Don't know enough to determine it's feasiblity to my needs

Your Monitor Resolution: Future purchase of a high-end, high resolution monitor does need to be considered. Ability actually to run two monitors will be important.

Additional Comments: Will be running CS6 and a high end video editing software of some sort. Would like a SSD to use for Operating System and editing software. Can move a 1 TB drive over but would want at least another 2 TB of HD space. Also I figure 16GB RAM, Will need a DVD burner also

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Current system is too old to effectively handle my editing needs. Also having some boot up errors, MB is crapping out (USB in and out as well as video), boot HD is acting up too, limited to 4 GB RAM,
