I only play Bf3 should I go with 660ti?

Basically I am spec'ing a build to basically only play bf3. I wanted to go AMD but the 660ti benches for bf3 seem to be the sweet spot for price/performance. Am I missing something?

Thanks for your help

I plan on building

CPU: i5-3570
Mobo: Asrock z77 extrem4
Memory: Gskill ripsaw 1600
SSD: Intel Maplecrest 120g
Graphics Card: 660ti or ????

More about : play bf3 660ti

I max out BF3 with a 670 in ultra settings in 1080p resolutions. From what I can tell, the 660ti should provide you really good performance in high settings to perhaps ultra settings. Either way, its going to be a great card to run pretty much any game out there today in high settings.

The 670 does hover around around 10 FPS more in BF3 (ultra at 1080p) than the 660ti that is at the same clocks. In my opinion the sweet spot is the GTX 670 for BF3 as it is 16% faster at BF3 (again on ultra at 1080p) than the 660ti and they both overclock the same.

I personally own this card. I value a quiet PC a little higher than most people and this is the most quiet 670 on the market:

This. The GTX 670 is really the baseline requirement on the Nvidia side for smooth gameplay in BF3 at 1080p ultra.

Save the money, get a 660ti and overclock it. Most models overclock very well.

Is there any evidence that this will keep minimum framerate above 30-35-ish? I'd still recommend the 670 to ensure min. framerates over 40. I know that a 660ti can get pretty good average framerates but I haven't seen much indicating that it can keep min. framerates out of the 30s. Minimum framerate is the card's weakness.

yep.

Look at the 2 1080p pics. Min never dipped below 42-43. With a decent overclock it would be even better.

Tomshardware (as well as like 99% of sites that use BF3) benches single player - all their BF3 results are meaningless for determining what exact fps a card will get. Multiplayer is far more demanding.

OP never said he'd play multiplayer exclusively.

Also on MP, its CPU bound, so his CPU would matter more than his gfx card.
Graphics card Authority

The 670 does a much better job handling Battlefield 3. Also depending on what maps. If your playing armored kill and plan to do around 4x AA or more (AA only) then your one of your main concerns needs to be VRAM.

As long as OP has a good CPU he's OK to avoid CPU bottlenecking. I saw no FPS increase in BF3 mp going from a 4.0 GHz Phenom II x6 to a 4.8 GHz i7-2600k.

+1 great mobo in that price bracket.

Yea I would go with the 660ti, or even better the 670 if your budget can stretch to it...
