Upgrade or build new?

Hey guys.

I built a PC about two years ago. Wondering if its worth upgrading, or should I just build a new one?

Specs:
ASUS P7P55D PRO
2x 2GB DDR3 1600
750W PSU
Intel I5 760 @ 3.68
Geforce gtx 470
slow HD

If its worth upgrading, what should I tackle?

More about upgrade build
  1. toss in a couple more sticks of memory, a SSD and 670 and you got a rockin game box.
  2. I am going to apply your advice. Bought a samsung 128GB SSD today. Noticed its labeled SATA III though, and my mobo as far as I can tell only has SATA 3Gb/s. Will this be a problem?

Not really - you'll still notice a great speedup - it just won't be the fastest thing on the block.

I second the extra RAM and a GTX 670.
  5. Sweet. Gonna pick up ram soon, the graphic card will have to wait for xmas. Self-gifting is the way to go.
  6. It really depends on what you are playing and if you like your settings for now. I am keeping my GTX460 for quite awhile, as it doesnt slow down in the games I want to play on it.

If you can play at desired settings with your current setup, keep it.

If not, I would upgrade the GPU.

I've been actually looking around for a GTX470 and haven't been able to fine one lol.
  7. Upgrade in march to haswell? Just food for thought.
  8. looking into ram now. Get more of the same I have 2 x 4gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145260 or step it up some? Supposedly this motherboard supports DDR3 2200 overclocked. Would I even notice a difference, especially factoring in the extra cost?
