Kodak DCS SLR/x is under $3500 now. If it keeps going this way, I'm
expecting it goes below $2000 in two years or sooner. And all cropped
DSLRs below $800?

Good luck! You are probably correct in the historical sense that better and
better technology seems to get more reasonably priced with the passage of
time. Countering that (if you live in the US, and I assume that you do
since you list prices in dollars) is the continuing devaluation of the
dollar versus most other currencies. Also, pending inflation is a potential
factor. Just yesterday I had a local high volume camera dealer tell me that
Canon has dropped one of the dealer discounts that he has enjoyed for a long
time.

Depends on the yields they get making the sensors. If they don't
increase, prices won't drop much. But there is also the artificial
price dictated by product class, which explains the $7000 top line
Canon.

Don't worry the economy. The semocindutor's M-law already factored the
economic up-down, and the part about the price is always in the US$.
The up-down of the econmony, particularly the semicnductor industry, is
a build-in nature in this business.

Don't be so sure. Many banks are now going with the euro rather than the
USD.. I doubt Canon etc is going to not care what the USD is worth..

It will take an unknown long time for Euro to repalce the US$ as the
world's economy value standard.
A clever business knows how to ride the tide. When the level goes up,
it goes up, when the level goes down, it goes down.

Especially since Europe has replace the US as Canon's largest market. They
take in more Euros than dollars.

Industry sources put Europe as a growing market;

"Europe becomes largest digital camera market
Saturday, 26 February 2005 11:55 GMT

According to a press release issued by Lyra Research, Europe took the top
spot for digital camera shipments from the United States which is now second
in terms of shipments. Total shipments in 2004 exceeded 60 million units, up
35% compared to 2003, Lyra forecast that shipments will surpass 100 million
units in 2008.

In 2004 Europe surpassed the United States in unit shipments

NEWTONVILLE, MA (February 22, 2005) - Coinciding with this year's Photo
Marketing Association (PMA) show in Orlando, FL, Lyra Research's Digital
Photography Advisory Service has issued its worldwide digital camera
forecast. Digital still camera shipments surpassed 63 million units
worldwide in 2004, up more than 35 percent compared with 2003. Worldwide
digital still camera shipments will surpass 100 million units in 2008.

In 2004, for the first time ever, Europe became the largest market in terms
of unit shipments, taking the top spot from the United States, which is now
second in terms of shipments. Japan is the third-largest market.

The 3-megapixel category remained the most popular digital camera segment in
2004, but shipments are increasing in the 4-, 5-, and 6-megapixel segments.
Most point-and-shoot cameras now shipping are 4- and 5-megapixel models, and
Lyra expects that, by 2005, 5+-megapixel cameras will account for more
worldwide shipments than any other segment.

"The desire to produce prints from digital cameras is now a key factor in
the consumer purchase decision. Many new camera buyers do not go to the
store looking just for a digital camera-they are looking for a total
photographic solution," says Robert Palmer, director of Lyra's Digital
Photography Advisory Service. Camera and printer bundles proved very popular
last year, and Lyra expects these solutions to gain further momentum in
2005. "Explosive growth in digital camera sales will fuel the market for
photographic prints," says Palmer. "More than 18 billion prints were
produced from digital camera images in 2004, two-thirds of which were
produced in the home."

Lyra Research's Digital Photography Advisory Service (DPS) is an online
competitive research tool for marketing and product managers in the digital
camera, photo-quality printer, and online photo-service industries. The DPS
provides the advice and insight necessary to tap into the possibilities of
today's digital imaging market."

Better start trading your Greenbacks into Euros or Gold, even the Canadian
dollar has risen against the US Dollar.

US$ is down because it's for US's benefits.
Remember in the 1980's how strong is Japan's economy? then there was a
big shake on th US$ and Japan is no more but almost a wiggling tail.

The Euro is just another major currency. The US$ remains the
international trading reference. Right now, banks (and Warren Buffet
and Bill Gates) are dumping US$ for Euro's and other currencies, but
that's just a reflection of poor US balance of trade, US deficit and
recognition of US economic dependancy on foreign oil which is rising in
price.

Has always been in USD, correct. But it would be unwise to bet on this
for ever. This is the first dollar rate plunge for a long, long time
when the US dollar actually has a credible alternative as a world
currency. And in fifteen year's time, there might be yet another
perfectly credible alternative around.

Absolutel. Not only that, don't tell me you haven't seen that -we- also
decide what the other currency is worth.

You'd better believe it and it's not going to take 15 years.

You sound surprised! ;-)
Read "How the Right Went Wrong" by Patrick Buchanon. I don't agree with all
of his political standards, but he has some eye opening things to say about
Mr. Bush and his advisors.
