Can you run a seperate NVIDIA card with ATI?

I have a computer that currently has a Radeon 6870 graphics card in it. But I want to run NVIDIA Physx in some games like borderlands 2. Is it possible to run an NVIDIA card for Physx (say a 9800 GT) and still keep an AMD card for my primary?

Please make sure that you read through all of the instructions prior to doing the mod. Once done, use fluidmark to ensure your setup is working.

For BL2, (after doing the mod) I just deleted the physxdevice.dll file and it seemed to work just fine...others are mentioning that it might take more work, here read through here...
