My 1 month old pc all of a sudden started freezing and crashing. I thought hdd could be the culprit, many bad sectors were found so RMAed it. After getting replacement drive, I installed the windows on new drive. Everything was working fine, I installed some drivers - 12.7b catalyst, usb 3 driver and LAN driver. After that, as I was about to install something else and was about to get to the screen where windows asks for admin permission , frozen solid colored screen came back and as before I had to hard shut down pc. Which means that my old hdd was only responsible for freezes not crashes.
So here is a description of crashes and when they happen:
For a split second screen and everything freezes, then for another split second some random colored pixel like dots appear over screen and finally solid colored screen appears and remains there forever, sometimes this screen is not solid but is a pattern consisting of symmetrically placed vertical lines. Color of this screen is most of the times light blue but sometimes it is light green, white or gray.
It happens. . .
1. While working in softwares like After Effects, Premiere ( happens 85 % of times sommetimes after 3-5 minutes sometimes after hours of working)
2. After watching videos on my pc or on internet. ( Happens sometimes)
3. After clicking on some exe file which requires admin rights to run - for example after clicking on exe to install some software ( not always happens but usually when I am installing alot of apps one after another)
My gpu is HIS IceQX 7850 , it is not overclocked and is not overheating.
My other components:
Psu: Seasonic 660w
motherboard: m5a99x evo
cpu : 8150 fx
I think problem lies somewhere in amd overdrive, pc never crashes when sitting idle but only when I am working or installing something when watching videos/pics.
I am willing to RMA the card if it is bad but HIS has no centre in my country and their terms of warranty are very scary, so I am avoiding RMA and also dont have money to buy another card.
