Building first gaming desktop

I was shown the "Ivy Bridge CustoMac Pro Build" (http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/search/label/CustoMac)

So far, I plan to buy

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 4 Core

mobo: Gigabyte GA-H77M-D3H Intel H77 1155 Motherboard

memory: 8GB Dual memory

hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200 3 TB

case: Cooler Master Elite 430 Black Mid Tower

I'm little stuck on graphic card part
I could get GeForce GT 640 for a low budget.
My budget for graphic card is like 100-200? 200 is a maybe.
I'm down to spend 150. Cyber monday is coming up, I hope I get lucky with something.

I thought of geo force 650 ti. Friend suggested 560 ti

Just trying to make right choice on grapics card

Advice would be awesome! I want to learn more.

  1. Hi Trancemenow.

First of all the H77 is a non overclockable chipset. Please upgrade to a Z77 or change your processor to a non "K" series.

    Have a look at this.

The 650Ti is a good card for mid level gaming.

Maybe you can buy a normal 3570 sans K and use the money for a better GPU?

    Let me know.

I can change mobo to Asus P8Z77-V LK Z77 LGA1155 Motherboard

    I already bought the intel i5 3570

Thank you for suggestions. I'm really debating now if I should just get the 660 ti.
  3. get the gtx 660 non ti. its just a little slower than 660 ti while being much cheaper
