I've mislaid the little plastic cold shoe table stand (Canon
literature calls it a "hot shoe table stand" - but there are no "hot"
contacts on it) that comes with the Canon 550EX. While it was just a
cheap little plastic gadget - I found it very handy for placing slave
550EX around for bounce fill light. The local Canon rep. doesn't sell
these as seperate items.
Do anyone know where I can find a suitable replacement or substitute
(except eBay)?
I've seen various "hot shoe" thingies from Paterson and others for
sale - but my concern is that these really are "hot shoes" (i.e. they
are made of metal), and it looks like the metal will short-circuit the
"extra" pins on the 550EX.

You should be able to order it. I did for my Minolta flashes (I needed
one to leave on a stroboframe. They were so cheap I ordered three.
