Hi all

I was thinking about getting the MAxtor 160 GB harddrive. Somewhere I have read that 128GB tough is again some limit.
Do I need to buy an ATA133 controller or can this be handled
by a bios-update (i have a a7v266-e mobo)

thx

Yes if you go larger than 128 you'll need an ata133 ide card. Its a hardware issue that cannot be fixed without ne hardware. You could go with two 80 gigs in a raid array(this works by some trickery done in the raid array) and stay with ata100 drives and it would be quicker than a single ata133 drive.

If you ever stop learning, YOU'ER DEAD!!

controler with the drive...

The card is actually made by Promise for Maxtor. It's pretty nice. I don't think that it's going to yield better performance over ATA100. It also works in a 64bit PCI slot. It should be the equivalent to the Ultra133 TX2 that promise provides.
