Monitors who are using the trinitron or diamondtron technology have 2 horizontal lines. Aren't those disturbing? Especially when using it for CAD design or graphic editing?

I am using a HP p1130 Trinitron at work and use AutoCAD. As the main screen is mostly black these lines do not show up at all.

As the lines are so faint anyway, even on pure white screens the lines do not jump out at you. I only started using this monitor recently, and I didn't even notice these lines until I purposefully looked out for them. With any kind of information on the screen your eyes will naturally look at that rather than the lines.

those horizontal lines will really ruin your CAD experiences, it happened to me before in my school.

I don't know about the graffic uses but I have a CTX monitor with one such line (15":( ) and it's unnoticeable there's no problems with gaming, internet surfing and other home activities.

Just purchased a Mag Innovision 786PF (17') which uses the sony Triniton tubes, and I am no avid digital artist, just a casual gamer/artist, and use my computer for school work (occasionally), but have not really noticed these 2 lines that people talk about. I guess I can check that out tonight, open up a blank word document and look for two lines... but shmeh... I guess if you do CAD, it might be different... I have no probs though, seeing as I dont even see them.

My old Mag monitor (15-incher) had one line. I never did get used to the line.

When it was time to upgrade I bought a shadow mask monitor.

No more line(s).

Actually, heh, I went home during my 6 hour break during classes, and found that I received my package from home, and was fooling around on the computer instead of reading some english books, and I actually noticed the vertical stripe, but only the left one (most probably because of the glare and angle of the monitor).

That anti-glare coating does nothing when the monitor faces a window! (oie.... yes, i know i know, bad positioning of the monitor no matter how 'anti-glare' it is.)

vertical stripe?

Sorry, I don't know what you are talking about. The visible lines are horizontal and are caused by shadows from the damper wires which run perpendicular to the aperture grill wires which run vertical. The damper wires keep the other wires from vibrating. AG monitors can't do without the damper wires.

Hmm, maybe my mistake in what im seeing? I always thought that Trinitrons had two vertical lines, going from the top to the bottom of the monitor, maybe I need to do some more research. Sorry for any confusion.

Nope. Horizontal.

This article explains the lines on aperture grill monitors (Trinitron, Diamondtron, etc).
