Strange monitor problem

Hello, a friend brought me this monitor. It's tested on more computers and always has this distortion on the right half side:






How serious is it? Is it repairable? Will it pay off to go to the service? Thank you.

That is something that you're only going to repair by replacing the LCD panel at a minimum. Would not be the least bit surprised if someone tries to deny any kind of warranty coverage, because that looks like the kind of damage that would come from the monitor taking fall damage or a good whack on the back.
