Recommendations for compatibility - Intel and AMD systems

Hello,

I need some help finalizing a computer for myself. I heard from lot of people and internet as well that even though one may get best components, lack of compatibility produces bottlenecks in performance. My main purpose is:
1) Finite Element modeling/scientific computations
2) Some parallel programing
3) My wife may use it for Adobe photoshop and some architectural software
4) Other basic day today use

I have the following two systems in mind:
A) Intel:
1) Power Supply - Cougar A-Series 560W, Newegg $40.00
2) Computer Case - NZXT Phantom PHAN-001WT, Newegg $100.00
3) CPU Cooling - Cooler Masters, Hyper 212 plus, Newegg $25.00
4) DVD/CDRW - Any, Newegg $18.00
5) Booting/OS Drive (SSD) - SanDisk extreme SSD 128GB, Amazon $85.00
6) Data/Hard Drive - "WD VelociRaptor 10000 rpm 500GB, SATA 6 GB/s, 64MB (WD5000HHTZ)", Newegg $80.00
7) Processor - i7-3770K 3.5 GHz, 4 core, Newegg $300.00
8)Motherboard - Asus PAZ77, LGA 1155, Newegg $120.00
9) Graphics Card - Sapphire 100322L Radeon HD6450, Tiger Direct $35.00
10) Memory - G. Skill (4 × 4GB), 240 pin, DDR3 1600 MHz, PC3 (12800), Newegg $50.00

B) AMD
Most of the components stay the same except of course:
1) Processor-AMD FX-8350, 8 core, 4.0 GHz, Tiger Direct $200.00
2) Motherboard-Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 AM3 , Newegg $160.00

I'll decide later whether to go for Intel or AMD. In the meanwhile, I would appreciate your prompt response(s)

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. However, I want to be sure that the components that I listed (processor, motherboard, graphics card and memory) for both AMD and Intel systems are compatible and will perform without any hiccups.

    Best,
