Building my first gaming PC

I have gotten thousands of ideas from people on building a budget gaming pc. My budget is $500 so it's nothing incredible. It's not going to be used for hardcore gaming or running everything on ultra settings. I would like to be able to play Skyrim or Battlefield 3 with decent fps.
