in the wake of this news, I was scared enough to back off from this, I was really planning on buying a GPU next week, and MSI 670 PE was my first choice, but because of this I'm looking for a new option.. can you please suggest me a better card at this price/performance range? NVIDIA or AMD will not matter, I MIGHT OC my card in the feature if I dont have good fps in my games, got about $410 budget for it.. will be buying next week..

What bigmack is saying is correct. And you should be able to find those on sale this weekend. I have the Asus GTX670 DCUII and it overclocks nicely, it's silent and cools exceptionally. Hit up newegg and check them out.

Is $400 a good price for the Asus right now?

Is the ASUS too big (compared to other 670s) to be the right choice for SLI?

I am only a few parts from finishing my first build, the last big one being the first of my dual 670s.

Thinking of pulling the trigger. PCPP shows that over the past few months it has mostly been around $420, occasionally dropping to 400. I am just wondering if there will be a price drop soon. I guess, for now, I will take your advice and hold out until the weekend, while watching prices.

I was thinking about taking my chances with MSI's "secret sauce", but I don't really feel confident enough to invest $380 on the MSI. On the other hand, it does have a 3 year warranty.

  @ the toxic edition... what a joke

I dunno what everyone is complaining about with coil whine... your chances of getting it are minuscule.

I was refering to the one I have the HD 7970 Vapor X Edition 3GB card, not the Toxic edition 6GB card, I also have a VaporX edition 7950 also 3GB which is the standard VRAM on Tahiti's.

Problem with ASUS DUII TOP is that ASUS didn't plan it well, its a huge unit taking up to 3 slots, this automatically limits you to 2 GPU's max irrespective if you have a 4 way supporting motherboard, another thing is ASUS are pathetic on costs, great stuff, stupid pricing.
