I hooked up my cdrom with the spdif dig cable to my sb audigy and it didnt affect anything. I unplugged the old analog one and it was doing nothing, the computer still played cds. I have enable digital turned on in the cdrom properties.

I can have no audio cable plugged in the cdrom going to the audigy and it works just like before.. did they come out with a new way of digitally transfering the music without using the spdif cable? I take it that its using the IDE bus but why?

If your using win xp it sends the digital audio signal throught the ide from the cdrom/dvdrom to the coundcard on the pci bus so you nolonger need seperate audio cables.
