I did make a thread before but not many people repleid and it got buried even after 5 bumps. So im going to ask again.

Im buying all the parts tomorrow as im upgrading my current machine into what i hope will run BF3 at 60fps on ultra settings.

My current PC is

MSI 770-G45
AMD Athlon II x4 645
Saphire Radeon HD 6670 1GB ddr 5
EZcool PSU 650w
4GB Ram

I want to upgrade my Graphics card to this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

But i have no idea what Processor or Motherboard to get with it,

Im upgrading my ram to 8GB too.

Do i need a new PSU?

Im also going to get a new case to that i have a nice airflow and can keep everything cool as i can't afford a cooling system.

I have £350 to spend and that Graphics card takes up about £150 of it.

Can you please tell me what you think would be best for my rig as i need to write them down and take them into the shop tomorrow.

Thanks

Also, He said he may give me some cash for my Graphics card as he only put it in a few months ago. Should i sell it to him or would i benefit much at all keeping it and having 2 different gpu's?
November 27, 2012 12:05:13 AM

You get no benefit in having 2 different GPU's, if they are the same you can do crossfire, but if not that won't work. Yes, you should replace you PSU, I would get a 650W-700W PSU.
November 27, 2012 12:09:08 AM

I have a 650w PSU

What resolution will you be playing at? And just an FYI the $69.99 game coupon is Far cry III and a 20% of discount when you buy MOH 3. Don't keep 2 different GPU's doesn't work that way. I like to not think about Cross-firing Med-end/high-end cards because most med-high end cards have heat issues and high consumption which means you need better cooling, a bigger power supply, and possibly a bigger case.

EDIT: Missed the part about you buying a new case.
November 27, 2012 12:57:06 AM

You're going to need a whole new machine just to get that.

If you only have £350, it might not suffice.
November 27, 2012 2:16:28 AM

Why would i need a whole new machine?

Should i keep the Mother board and processor i have and just get the GPU/Psu/Ram/Case?
November 27, 2012 2:21:29 AM

You won't be maxing BF3 at 60FPS with your CPU even with a great GPU=(.

I meant that You would need to change everything except case because your 650w is not true rated and might kill your parts off.
November 27, 2012 2:28:39 AM

So, What do you think i should do?

D:

I want to be able to play BF3, Skyrim, Both Fallouts and The War Z on high/ultra settings with reasonably good fps.

I forgot to add that currently the max resolution is 1600x900 so im guessing that is the res il be playing my games in.
November 27, 2012 2:37:39 AM

It's impossible with BF3. =(

You would have to make a new system just for that game.

The Athlon will seriously hold you back.

Although, if it is not 1080p resolution then there's a chance.
November 27, 2012 2:55:30 AM

Wel the guy at the shop who builds the PC's said that he would be able to trn my current pc into a very owerful gaming pc with £350 :\

Im wanting to change my mobo and processor and get a new gpu

Also my monitor is only like 18 inches across and 12 so i doubt im playing 1080
November 27, 2012 3:00:22 AM

Try getting an
i3-3220
H77 motherboard or even B75
7850.

Although, it wil still not max out BF3.
November 27, 2012 3:22:53 AM

Ok, forget battle field 3 il be ok with that on medium -high settings.

The main games im focuses on are Fallout 3 / New Vegas and Skyrim and War Z

What about those?
November 27, 2012 3:25:03 AM

Yeah, it'll do pretty good on those.

You can actually get high on BF3 with a 7850.

Yes, FO3 will be decent to play with that.
November 27, 2012 3:32:31 AM

So there is no point in getting the card i wanted orignally? D:

Can you link me to a good 7850 please

And to some decent mobos and prorcessors as i wanna take pics on my phone and show them too him.

I really would like them to be the best i can afford.

Also a decent PSU please.

Also, I have no idea about over clocking but i would like the mobo and processor to be able to get the best out of my GPU.

Sorry if i sound like an idiot as to be honest i dont know much of what im talking about

Thanks for your help though
November 27, 2012 3:45:42 AM

You're from Uk right?

I think the Gigabyte 7850 would be your best bet since it's the cheapest there when I last looked.

Also wouldnt a AMD Black Edition - AMD Phenom II X4 3.4 GHz Processor be ok?

Not really.

An FX-4300 would be better though :D .
November 27, 2012 3:59:44 AM

Oh god..nw im confused

OMG! It's a sign. Definitely get this.

HOW CAN THAT BE EVEN POSSIBLE!
November 27, 2012 4:06:36 AM

Cutebeans, If i go with that exact formula, Will i be able to run

both fallouts, Skyrim, War Z on Max settings?

And BF3 on medium? Bear in mind im not 1080p.

If the answer is a 100% yes then il go with that exact formula

Also, I cant afford a cooling system too..So im hoping a few case fans plus the fans on the GPU will keep it cool... Will that be fine?
November 27, 2012 4:14:34 AM

Oh if you are not going on 1080p then

Fallout 3 bare. YOU SHOULD MAX IT OUT EASILY.

SKYRIM AND WARZ really depends but You should have no problems having it at HIGH.

Honestly, having a 7850 and not being on 1080p, you will max a lot of games and most games will be at high. :D

BF3 will surely get to High. I've seen youtube vids that can get it up High and at decent framerates.
November 27, 2012 4:14:57 AM

Need an asnwer man!! I took a picture of your formula......I will be taking it in like 2 hours so im in a rush bro. xD
November 27, 2012 4:16:03 AM

Riight, It looks lie im going to go with this formula

Right?
November 27, 2012 4:23:00 AM

Go for it.
November 27, 2012 4:23:51 AM

I hope you are right...........Otherwise i blew my only money on nothing x.x
November 27, 2012 4:25:31 AM

Would this AGolden Badged Addict CuteBeans Poster lie to you!
November 27, 2012 4:28:26 AM

I just realised something...

Why the 500w PSU? wont i need 650?!?
November 27, 2012 4:37:55 AM

You can even get 430w and it will still power up your system fine.

550 is already too much for a 7850. Don't worry about it.

Would this Golden Badged Addict CuteBeans lie to you?
November 27, 2012 4:40:12 AM

Alright... thanks man.

Im not saying you will lie... Just taking advice with this amount of money from someone i dont even know...xD

November 27, 2012 4:42:38 AM

Hehe! Don't worry bro. Just google

7850 on a 430w PSU. :)
November 27, 2012 4:44:25 AM

i believe you.

I just realised..........I still need a decent case and 4gb more ram...

The case i have atm has 2 fans and i dont think the airflow is great as my Sapphire Radeon HD 6670 ddr 5 1b goes up to 75c when gaming yet idles on 35 ish.

He said he would perhaps give me some money for my old mobo, processor and Gpu... So i hope it covers it..
November 27, 2012 4:46:15 AM

Hi don't worry 75C is actually normal on load.

4gb of ram is pretty good with games. So no need to worry as well but if he is going to buy your old parts that would be good as well. :)

November 27, 2012 4:48:35 AM

The case i currently have is like a usual pc case..I aint sre if its even a gaming case..

I have a fan on the back and a fan on the side casing with 1 vent above that. What do you think :s

More or less like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

It looks like that bt its not that one
November 27, 2012 4:58:10 AM

You should sell your parts and get a good case with it :D
November 27, 2012 5:01:48 AM

Oh yeah, ONE LAST QUESTION!!

How comes you picked the MSI 7850 instead of the Sapphire? Apparently the msi is noisy under load and the saphire is quiet... Can i ask your opinion and which one you would choose and why? After that il leave you alone xD
November 27, 2012 5:03:23 AM

Dude don't change the PSU for now, use the 350 to buy maximum cpu / motherboard / ram possible.

At PC upgrades always always get the best and latest chipset for cpus and a reasonable cpu.

The reason is that having bottleneck performance from GPU is way more preferred than bottleneck from cpu.

This is my suggestion to you

Motherboard : 75.98 GBP http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB...
CPU : 154.99 GBP http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP...
RAM : 29.99 GBP http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY...

Thats about 260 GBP, you still have 90 GBP to go and maybe some cash back (35-50? from your GPU), thatsabout 130 lets hope., put some 10-20 more GBP

VGA : 149.99 GBP http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX...

thats about 410-40 from your GPU return cash, 370! GO FOR IT and you will thank me later. Dont change PSU for now

Or! get this cpu 173.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP...

keep your old GPU for now and get a better gpu in few months because in few months 7850s or 7870s will be way cheaper.
November 27, 2012 5:04:23 AM

That's an MSI Twin Frozer OC edition and is has 2gb of ram. The Cooling technology of MSI TWIN FROZR is very popular.

You can't go wrong with that and it's cheaper. :D

November 27, 2012 5:09:45 AM

.... Oh for the love of god.

Now what
November 27, 2012 5:15:33 AM

I like your idea Beetle but that means i have to wait to enjoy my games..

Im seling my xbox to do all this aswell to add money to the funds so il have nothing until next year to play..

Cutebeans formula lets me play games at top specsstraight away -.-
November 27, 2012 5:24:01 AM

So who the hell do i go with?

I guess i could write them both down and take it into the shop

Also... Isnt this 650W EZcool psu bad?
November 27, 2012 6:23:55 AM

It is.
November 27, 2012 6:27:31 AM

Dude I am a GOLDEN BADGED ADDICT.

It does not necessarily mean that I am better than an apprentice but in this case I really am.

Gold Badges are gotten only through a certain amount of "Best Answers" I am at the peak of recommending homebrew builds!
November 27, 2012 11:37:47 AM

Well im going with you :)

I just hope he sells the parts for the prices i can get them for on the net!

Thanks alot dude,
November 27, 2012 11:46:24 AM

I agree with cutebeans the 4300/7850 route will give you a pleasurable experience even up to full 1080p. Since you are running on 1600x900, you should be able to max out every game.
November 27, 2012 3:22:14 PM

Hey Cutebeans.

I went in with exactly what you said, However they aid they could do abit better and instead i got this

Motherboard -AsRock AM3+970 Extreame4

Processor - AMD FX 6100 AM3 -BLACK RT

Video Card is the same - MSI Radeon HD 7850 2gb

I got a very nice gaming case, The whole side panel is one HUGE fan, Aswell as a fan at ther front and the back, He did a straight swap for my old GPU

Total = £350

I have to stay with my current 650w Ezcool psu for now and get another 4GB ram in a month or so.

Is this build better/ok?

There was 2 other mother board for the same price - AsRock A75 Extreame 6 SKFM1 or Asrock Z77 Pro-M

Or £8 more i could have got

Asrock Z77 Pro
November 27, 2012 4:26:32 PM

^go with the 6300 over the 6100 it is the new piledriver based fx series. They have made better improvement over Bulldozer in the ipc and efficiency department.
November 27, 2012 4:27:53 PM

I could only get the 6100... Its all he could get for my price range.

Is it still better than what cutebeans suggested? It only cost a few £'s more.

Will i still run most games with good fps on high settings?
November 27, 2012 5:19:01 PM

Let's just say I would take the 4300 over the 6100. Due to the slightly superior architecture.
November 27, 2012 5:39:04 PM

So its just the look not the performance? Will i get the same out of this as i would the 4300? Thats all i care about.

All i plan to do is put 4gb more ram in and a psu then leave it for a few years
!
