A Friend of mines father in law wants to know if there is a sound product that can be put in the computer that will drive a pair of cerwin vegas. I dont think it can be done with out a amplifier. Is there anything out there that would fit the bill?

Nope, not at all. Not just the sound card's fault, though. The PCI bus would never be able to handle that much power, and the motherboard wouldn't either. Furthermore, the computer's power supply isn't sufficient to power something like that. He'll need to buy an external amp (or listen to everything at very low volumes :)

Tell him to hook the computer to his home stereo, there are many soundcards with digital audio connectors that will patch into a digital stereo, or you can use analog with an adapter cable.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
