I recently installed my Radeon R7770 graphics card, and after booting my PC up I discovered that my monitor wasn't being detected. This was installed directly into my main VGA slot as usual. My best guess is that with the graphics card installed, my monitor can no longer be detected unless it is installed into the display ports via the graphics card, correct?

So my question is this: is there any way to get the benefits of my graphics card while having the display still connected to the original display port on my PC? I ask because I have a VGA/DVI monitor while the graphics cards have HDMI/DVI ports. If I have to use the graphics card display ports, is it better to just purchase a 24-pin DVI cable or just buy a VGA/DVI converter so the monitor can display?

Of course, if I have this entire problem wrong and need some clarification, please do not hesitate to steer me the right way :)

Thanks in advance guys!
