96khz sampling disabled in new drivers?

I had my speakers (altec lansing ada885) working in digital mode with the digital sampling rate at 96khz. My speakers came with a spdif cable which I plug into the sound card, it splits into two sections one labeled PCM data, the other says AC3 data.

Before, i could set it at 96khz and use the PCM plug and I would get sound. Now neither one the PCM nor the AC3 cable will let me use 96khz (only 48) for some reason. Remember these ends are coming out of my plug that is in the SPDIF audigy input.

Also before this change, the AC3 didn't play ANY sound, no matter what setting.. strange.

what is the question here? did you change speakers or sound card? what is the change in the system that you are now having problems with?
