this is my first time building a pc (gaming), i just need to ask a few questions. is the chip-set in a motherboard really important in gaming? if so how can you tell if it is good. these are the parts i have so far:

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Quad Core
Ram: 8GB DDR3 1600 RAM 2x4
Graphics Card: Radeon HD7870 2GB GHz edition
Power supply: 950 wats
Mobo: ASRock 880GM-LE FX Motherboard or BIOSTAR A880GZ AM3+ AMD 880G SATA 6Gb/s HDMI Micro ATX AMD?
Case: Cool Master 430 black elite

im on a really tight budget, also which motherboard should i get? i don't have any idea how that effects gaming. what fps do you think i could get in games like borderlands 2, witchers 2 and battlefield 3 on mid to high settings?

thank you for your time.

The chipset will determine what features you can use if you have a processor that supports them. I'm not familiar with AMD chipsets though. If you are on a tight budget don't get such a big psu. Go with something like a 550W XFX or 620W seasonic. BF3 probably something like 50 fps on high/ultra with aa off. Borderlands 2 will be easier to run. Are you by a microcenter? They give a free mobo with a $89 Phenom II x4 965.
