Radeon 5550 VS 4850

How is the AMD Radeon 5550 1GB DDR5 compared to an ATI Radeon 4850 512MB DDR3?
Is it faster? Is it slower?

I'm asking because I found a seller who is giving his 4850 for 20$, but I already own a 5550. Would it be a good - and cheap - upgrade?

i think your should stick with the 5550 because of the 1gb vram and the 512mb vram... the card is not that good, also do you game on that machine?

Not really often.
Currently I'm playing Borderlands 2 with low details and low resolution, but it the first game I installed in 2 years.
I'm not a gamer, but when I play I like to do it in a decent way and I thought the 4850 would have helped me.

I read that the 4850 was a good mid-range card when it came out, even if now it is little old.
The 5550 is a low-range but newer GPU...

no stick with your 5550... sorry but a 20$ upgrade unfortunately wont do anything to speed it up unless your getting an insane deal

4850 will game a lot better but I would not suggesting spending money on it.
20 is not bad

well i mean its a decent card but all im saying is you may be able to boost how the game looks a little and the resolution a bit up... im just not sure if its worth it, i mean i recommend getting a nice newer card like the 7770 or even the 6770 if you can afford it

I'm using a Corsair 430W PSU right now. Would it be enough?
I'm getting a little confused: is the 4850 better then the 5550 DDR5 or not?

4850 is better yes it is and the lil corsair can run it
