I want to start a thread that discusses, from a purely technological standpoint, the makeup of current RAM technologies and the soon future advances.

All apliciable information is welcome. (RDRAM, DDRSDRAM, SRAM, CRAM, MCH, Memory Buses, On Die NorthBridges, etc.)

Please!!! and I say again, Please!!! Not Trolling!!!

Memory is not an AMD vs. Intel issue. (Maybe a Samsung vs. Micron, but I don't want that here.)

Only factual, documentation oriented, web addressed proof, or some form of accredited source. No junk.

Thank you. Let the discussion begin.

I thought that someone would post to this at some point over the weekend. I figured wrong.

Let me start it out then.

Which is faster, 256MB (two RIMMs of 128MB) PC800 RDRAM or one DIMM of PC2700 DDRSDRAM at 2-2-2-2 timing?

If you answer this please site with documentation or give detailed reasons. In example timing latencies (ns), core latencies inherent in each type of RAM, etc.
