My plan is to go for a budgeted build used for Uni work , running DVD/bluerays etc and a few games I.e swtor

The system will be getting parts update in the future to keep making it better

The current parts I've got

Motherboard:

Gigabyte M68-MT-S2P

CPU:
AMD Bulldozer FX 6100 3.3ghz

HDD:
Western digital caviar blue 250gb 7200rpm

RAM:
Transcend 8gb 240pin ddr3

Graphics:
Geforce gtx 560 ti or se

Psu:
Evo labs 600w

Tower:
Cooler master elite 430

Fans:
Currently cooler master sickle flow upgrading to Excalibur

Would this system be a good starting point ?
Also what would the better os be windows 7 or windows 8 I'd prefer 8 if pos...
Many thanks
As you can tell I'm a newbie!

Yes. For limited gaming, you're fine. I haven't tried windows 8 as it primarily benefits touchscreen devices. Get the pro version of windows 7 or 8, whichever you choose. Windows 7 can be found cheaper on craigslist. Just be sure it's unopened.
