Can we use two fully configured linksys wireless routers on one network

I have a Linksys WRT54GL router in one building and a second router in an adjacent building.
I have connected each router to a MODEM that takes me to the internet. Can I configure the two routers to talk to each other and at the same time maintaining their respective internet connections
