Not sure what upgrade to get.

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz | GPU: Radeon HD 6950 | Mobo: Asus P8Z77-V LX | RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz

I have quite a few performance hits on games. I get a pretty bad FPS on Alan Wake, Batman Arkham City and Guild Wars. Also, Borderlands 2 is not so great performance wise. Borderlands is playable, but could be better. I guessed this was my card causing the problem really, since the CPU is brand new. I do get high FPS, at 60, but not stable at all really. Dipping all the time.

What do you guys think is my best choice? another HD6950 with crossfire, a GTX 680 or a HD7970? Or something else entirely?

More about upgrade
  1. Do you have some sort of price target? Your last two options are pushing $400, whereas another 6950 could be found for a little over half that amount, and in crossfire would do well for you. What's your PSU?
  2. At what resolution you playing at? 6950 is quite capable of running the games you mentioned.
  3. I play at 1920x1080. I'm not to concerned about the price.
  4. I think you should get the 7970 perhaps.
  5. @ OP can you have a look at this since you're considering about the GT680
