Hi everone.
I currently have a hd 6990 and can get another for £300...is it worth crossfiring these or should i sell my card (£300 ish) and put the rest of the money on a gtx 690.
Would there be much difference in performance using 3 screens.
Cheers
Daz.

The HD 6990 is a beast! Why would you even consider buying a second one?
To be honest i cant imagine why you'd need more power than a HD 6990 would provide so there is absolutely no need for another one.And even if you could get another one, the performance bump woudn't be more than 50%.

Indeed the card is good but using 3 screens and maxing everything out on certain games the fps drops to around 35 and on certain games it drops to around 45 fps on one screen.
These fps are still very playable but theres nothing like playing at over 70 fps which is why im asking would hd 6990 crossfire x accomplish this,,,,or would a gtx 690 do it.
Cheers

Theoretically speaking, the Geforce GTX 690 should be 20% faster than the Radeon HD 6990 overall, because of its higher data rate.

How many screens does a 690 support

adding another 6990 will not much advantage performance wise given how well nowadays gpu scaling when 4 gpu are linked together in crossfire/sli setup. most likely it will only add more heat and noise in your system. so i advice you to keep it as it is or go for 690 or 7970 in 2-way CFX. if you want cheaper route with nvidia side try looking for 670 in SLI.
