How to make an external drive into a router drive

I have a new technicolour wifi router TG582n which has a usb cobnnection in the side. I also have a new Samsung 400 gig external hard drive can these be linked to make a wifi hard disc store Pleas?

You can make it a shared contents drive. Is section "Setting Up the File Server" in your manual?

That USB connection is not for hard-drive or printer sharing, looks like it's to backup settings.

The NAS part in that router means it has network attached storage capability. Other routers have this, I like the Netgear RangeMax ones.
