This is a last check before I start buying to make sure that I am not making any major mistakes. This is the first time I am building a computer from the ground up. Please let me know if you see anything amiss as I'm probably going to start buying stuff today.

Approximate Purchase Date: This week

Budget Range: ~$750 for required parts

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming (Total War, Civ, Borderlands 2, Skyrim, etc), internet browsing, streaming, normal computer stuff.

Parts I have: 128 gb SSD, 320 gb hdd, 1920x1080 monitor, speakers, mouse and keyboard

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: amazon and newegg, but I am okay with others

Location: City, State/Region, Country - Chapel Hill, NC

Parts Preferences: i5-3570k

Overclocking: Maybe in the future so I don't need a CPU cooler now

SLI or Crossfire: No (i'll just buy a new card in a couple years)

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: boring looking case appreciated

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I have a 4 year old laptop as my main computer now. It makes a nice Christmas present for my Girlfriend

Here's what I was looking at: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qgQW

3570k for 219.99
ASRock Z77 Pro3 for 94.99
Gskill ram 2x4 for 29.99
7870 for 231.98
Corsair 200R for 29.99
Corsair Builder 500W for 39.99
Windows 7

Well this is what I came up with. You can change the copy of windows to your preference 7 or 8.

Only thing where it differs really is the case and PSU which are both just a bit higher quality but not necessarily if you don't want to change them.
