GTX670 SLI Performing poorly. Please don't respond with OC the CPU or upgrade CPU. There isn't a bottleneck there not at these resolutions.

I had a single windforce gtx670 performed amazing. I use Nvidia surround 5760x1080 for most games and the single GPU did great. I purchased a second windforce GTX670 and now some of my games play worse. Tested each card seperately with no issues. Reinstalled drivers (clean). Perforamce is still poor. Notices that FPS drops with GPU %. Why?

Best example would be BF3 1920x1080 Ultra preset. FPS would get to 45 very often with GPU's at 40% and CPU never going over 55-60%

dont overclock the cards & see it should resolve the issue

I should note that I have tested both ways and the same issue exists. I overclocked to look for improvement.

I am really in belief that PCI 2.0 8x is bottlenecking my cards. Took the second ard back out and found the GPU would actually stay maxed out and frame rate in a lot of games was actually better and some were very close.

BF3, in multiplayer is going to have drops to 45 FPS, not because the GPU's, but because of the CPU. In multiplayer, it is very CPU limited. Even if you see 55-60% usage on the CPU, does not mean that there isn't a process working at near 100% on 1 core. It's also a demanding game for 5760x1080p.

Formatted and reinstalled everything and got a good improvement in BF3. At 1080 I can easily max game and never go below 60fps in SLI. At 5760x1080 I use auto setting which is textures on ultra and the rest on medium seems to always stay around 60+ with dips 48-55fps not too bad it is much better than 1080 struggling as it was. Borderlands 2 does seem to use some threads more than others but a friend of mine has 2600K @ 4.6Ghz with gtx680 SLI and he has same issue as me and that is frames get low and GPU usage gets low not sure if it is more of a driver/software issue or what? Its like reverse throttling. Max Payne 3 performs much worse in SLI than with a single card at 1920x1080 and 5760x1080 this game has to have SLI issues.

At 1080 I feel that I should never have dips that low in SLI. After formatting and starting fresh I seemed to have cleared issues with BF3. You are right about CPU usage in BF3 though. Uses all 8 threads and a couple more so than others I believe there was two reaching 70% which is rather high. My biggest concern right now is in borderlands I gett mostly under 60fps getting as low as 28-35fps in battles @ 5760x1080 everything maxed. Memory usage is not a concern never used more than 1.3GB or so. Did notice borderlands 2 does not utilize all threads as wells as BF3. I tried disabling HT and it made the game more jittery it also about maxed out and did maxed out all cores which I thought was odd. Enabling HT again made things smoother. friends 2600k @ 4.6Ghz isnt hardly any faster with gtx680 sli. Kind of disappointing really. Single card performance seems really close. May actually be better with one card dedicated physx and one on graphics in that title.

Little late to answer . but i have a 3770K @ 4.5 ghz , 2 x EVGA 660 Ti's in SLI and have the same issue, its a driver issue and a lot of people are facing it. hope they fix this when BF4 is out. For other games SLI works fine except BF3.

Im having the same issue with my 670 FTW sli. I actually avragera bout 80 fps in bf3 with 1 card and never drop below 60 ans somtimes i hit 120, when i add the second card i drop to 55 sometimes and dont even go above 120. Whats the deal, this is my rig:

AMD fx 8350 OCed to 4.5ghz, H80 water cooler attached
8 gb vengence ram
gigabyte 990fx-ud3
750 watt PSU
120 gb SSD
1 tb HDD
8 case fans
