I was just wondering if anyone has had experience, good or bad, with the kenwood trueX series. Im looking at the 52x model because i cannot find the 72x (so far). If anyone knows of a good reseller of this product, please post it here. Also, if you think that kenwood is a bad product, post what would be a good cd-rom drive to get. Thanks.

Do you work at UPS? 'cuz i could have sworn you were checkin out my package!

Weren't these drives discontinued a long time ago? Anyway, I've heard good things about them.

My 72x is awesome. I think it's slowed down some, but seeing how I've used the hell out of it, I would expect that from any other cdrom drive.

Still extremely quiet, and still faster than any other cdrom drive I've seen/played with.

Do you find it to have any problems with pressed CDs?

I have had problems with one cd over the years. It was when I got my first burner, and had bought some really nasty green bottom cd's. It wouldn't even recognize the cd, and I didn't know enough at the time that it was the type. I just happened across a thread that talked about the problem, and after that, I started paying attention to the type of cds I use. Not to mention, I had problems with cheap cd's comming up with errors even when read with my burner (bad manufacturing).

I use 80min cyanine/gold cds that are less than $.50 each down at Wally World, and cruise with 0.0 problems.

When that Afrey deal comes out, I'll snag a cd/dvd combo from them. Multiple lasers rule.

I have one, the 72x and it's AMAZING! You can't hear it and it doesn't vibrate at all.

Lol. I liked my jet plane sounding 52x, but it broke so I replaced it (to my annoyance) with a 52x quite, non-vibrating Sony.

NOS and a Ferrari can be fun!
