More about what think final build
  1. For your uses you most likely won't need the i7-3770K, you could drop that to the 3570K and then upgrade your GPU to a Radeon 7970 (or GTX 670). The Samsung 840 is fast but I've heard mixed things about the controller. Alternately consider the new OCZ Vector. I don't really know anything about that cooler but I'm guessing it's fine.

You don't need a sound card and I'm guessing that the prices are most likely not dropping any time soon.
  2. Thanks for the advice. I will swap to i5.

Any one else have any thoughts?
  3. I read that 7970 is not justified at the price they are selling. Best sticking with 7950.
  4. The 7950 with new drivers from last week match gtx 670 performance and the 7970 to 680 performance.

What driver? Things have greatly improved with Catalyst 12.8 or better: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7970-ghz-edition-review-benchmark,3232.html

That fan is junk and no better than the stock fan. Get a Noctua or even the Hyper 212 Evo, but really - Arctic Cooling fans are really overrated and very poorly made.
