I've posted a few times now and have got this spec from all my research and advice so far.

Budget: £1500
Purpose: General multitasking and gaming

Case: NZXT Phantom Black Full Tower Case - £94.93
Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme6 Intel Z677 (Socket 1155) DDR3 - £140.00
Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50Ghz (Ivy Bridge) Socket LGA1155 OEM - £247.43
Fan: Alpenfohn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler - £59.99
Graphics card: Gigabyte Ati Radeon GD 7950 Windforce 3X 3072MB GDDR5 - £259.99
Memory: Cosair Vengeance Low Profile 8Gb (2X4Gb) DDR3 (1600Mhz) - £29.99
SSD: Samsung 250Gb SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s Basic - £143.99
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB SATA 6Gb/s 64 Cache (OEM) - £105.90
PSU: Cosair 850W AX850 Modular PSU - £141.53
Optical Drives: Sony AD-5280S-0B SATA DVD Optical Drive OEM - £14.51

I'm looking to buy within next few weeks.

1. What do you think of the build?
2. Are the prices likely to change over Christmas?
3. Do I need Soundcard?

For your uses you most likely won't need the i7-3770K, you could drop that to the 3570K and then upgrade your GPU to a Radeon 7970 (or GTX 670). The Samsung 840 is fast but I've heard mixed things about the controller. Alternately consider the new OCZ Vector. I don't really know anything about that cooler but I'm guessing it's fine.

You don't need a sound card and I'm guessing that the prices are most likely not dropping any time soon.

Thanks for the advice. I will swap to i5.

Any one else have any thoughts?

I read that 7970 is not justified at the price they are selling. Best sticking with 7950.

The 7950 with new drivers from last week match gtx 670 performance and the 7970 to 680 performance.

That fan is junk and no better than the stock fan. Get a Noctua or even the Hyper 212 Evo, but really - Arctic Cooling fans are really overrated and very poorly made.
