Hello All

I was playing as a medic this evening, my first time as a medic. I tried to
revive several people, but my needle seemed to miss. I aimed right at their
chest and stabbed with my syringe, but nothing happened...I was so-o-o-o
disappointed, and I'm sure the dead guys weren't all that happy either! What
did I miss? What was I supposed to do that I didn't? Please help, if not for
me, for the sake of my patients!

time saved!

In my opinion, most neighborhoods can be greatly improved by a fire or two,
and at least one well placed murder.

Kneel down. Use the C key.

Yes, kneel and aim for the upper body or head. Be sure to request ammo
from LTs. If you grab the obj, you can use your med packs on yourself
while the enemy is shooting at you. But, you'll have to run like hell.
It sometimes can buy you enough time to win the round.

By the way, I heard you can poison meds on the other team with a
needle. I've never tried it, though.

Practice! With some practice you'll be able to jump onto them from a
great height or revive them while sprinting past. It helps to crouch
or lie down at first. If you are standing, make sure you are stood
almost on top of them and looking almost straight down. Aiming for the
middle of the chest is the right thing.

Once you've got reviving sorted, a few other tips for playing medic:

* Never be first into battle. If you die, there's nobody to revive
you.
* If you're on your own you're not doing any good.
* Try to follow an engineer, they are the only ones who can win most
maps.

That's in some shrub mods. I happen to like it, as it gives me a
weapon to use when the LTs don't give me ammo. Doesn't help to poison
another medic, though, as they can revive themselves with a health
pack.

Hello Owen, I just realized my reply to you on this one never went thru. (I
know you were just broken-hearted, right?)

Here it is;

<<hey Owen! Thanks...I was kneeling down about half the time. I'm wondering
if
I was actually kneeling ON the guys I was trying to revive, and if I was,
would that be a problem. Maybe my arms are just too damn short! ;^)

I'll try again tonite.

FatWalt

aka Rookie Medic>>

The name thing brings me to another problem. I signed in as Rookie Medic a
couple days ago, and the server told me to change my name or get kicked. Can
you think of any reason why the name would be objectionable? I've signed in
under several different names - TotalFNG, Old-N-Slow, Drunken Bastard,
Drunken Fool, and daFamousGrouse (I haven't settled on a name yet, but
daFamousGrouse is looking good). I have never had a bit of trouble from
server admins, until Rookie Medic, which got me threatened with a kick. WTF?

TIA,
See you in the Spawn Area!

Most medics use a kind of jump, crouch, needle and move on. Use the
crosshair to aim the needle.

Hey Owen...yeah, that's what I'm doing now, or trying to. I think I figured
out why some of the dead won't come back. I was playing as Axis last night,
and got wasted right outside the radio room. The fighting was really thick,
so I tapped out, spawned in the upper bunker, and ran outside looking for
someone to revive. There was one laying right there, so I scuttled over, hit
5, and tried to revive.....my own dead body! DOH! Apparently that particular
server doesn't 'sink' the corpses as soon as you tap out. I may not be too
bright but I do catch on eventually! From here on out, I'll only try to
revive the ones who actually call for a medic.

Later,

FatWalt, the Drunken Medic

Revivable corpses have the big red circle above them. Forget the rest.

Use your radar to direct you to the nearest revivable corpse. The
circle will disappear if they tap out first.

I'm also a noob but I'm guessing that using Medic in your name might cause
confusion or even somehow get read by the program causing a crash? (Or the
admins fear that could happen.) The latter is just a wild guess on my part,
the former COULD be a factor. Especially since you probably aren't always a
Medic. Are you?

Hey, I'll speculate on anything!

I don't really know if that was it or not, cuz I changed my name to "Drunken
Medic" (both names accurate at the time!), and everything was fine.

Beats me!

Hehe, I used to play under the name "Drunken Medic" a couple 'o years ago; also as
"Random Medic". In any case, the reason that you were told to change your name was
either because someone else at that server uses that name (not so likely), or just
because some punk-ass kid was an admin who just so happened to have a bug up his ass
about your name, and decided to (ab)use his "authority" to mess with you (more
likely).
