Possible HD 7870 Bottleneck?

Right now I'm building a budget PC ($550). After some YouTube inspiration from razethew0rld, I think I have a build just in my budget that can house a Radeon HD 7870 and an AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition. My concern is that the weaker CPU may bottleneck the 7870 even if I overclock. Will this happen?

Worst case I could drop down to a weaker card.

Thanks

Mmm, I don't think you will have too many problems with that processor. I have one, and my 965 with a 6950 is my second fastest computer.

You should be fine. They only really start to bottleneck when you get to like the 7950 or 7970. You can even OC the 965 if you so please.

Step 1: Look at the rig in my signature.

Step 2: Read this.. I play games just fine fully maxed at 1080p. Yes, even BF3 multiplayer.

Hope that helps. Cheers.

Despite their age the Phenom II Quad cores are still plenty for gaming, roughly equivalent to a Core i3 which is enough.

Haven't seen you in ages Nekulturny!

The higher end Phenoms game as well as the newest FX chips. You'll be fine.
