Hello there, i was wondering which gpu I should get, I'm debating between the XFX HD 7970 or the Gigabyte HD 7950. Which card do you guys think would be better? I personally believe the Gigabyte card has superior cooling compared to the xfx card, which could lead to higher overclocks.

Does anyone here have this xfx card? Would it be better to go for the 7950 and overclock it a decent amount or go with the 7970 and overclock it a little bit to keep temps reasonable? The reason it's between these 2 cards is I want the gigabyte card, but for only $10 more i could get the xfx card, Thanks for your time everyone :)

I asked a similar question on Overclock.net, the overwhelming answer was Gigabyte 7950.

It appears the Gigabytes overclock really well(seen multiple owner list 1200+ on core), and the windforce cooler runs quiet while keeping the card cool during the OC(with added voltage). XFX user that responded cautioned me about it getting noisy.

From that thread(on first page)
I can't speak for the other cards, but I own the XFX HD 7950 DD. As long as you don't mind a little noise, it's a great card. Overclocks like a champ and runs fairly cool. Plus, I really like XFX's support.
No idea on how long the promotion will last, but I would say until the end of the month. You won't get much for the coupon code anyway; they sell for $15 on eBay.

Judging by the response I get on the OCN thread I am getting a Gigabyte 7950, if it was $10 cheaper than XFX then that's a no brainer for me.

OCed 7950 give you the best bang for your buck, 7970 will still do better when both are OCed but that's why it is more expensive.

A 3D mark 11 run I pulled from that thread for a Gigabyte 7950(1285/1650):

My Gigabyte 670 with +90/+400 OC(1240/1702.25), Graphic score almost the same and this is with 3D Mark 11 favoring Nividia
