Is a dvd drive necessary?

Just wanted to know if it is necessary to buy a dvd drive with my new build. Ill install the os from a usb so is there any real point to get one?

Nope, the last build of mine does not have an optical drive, nor do I anticipate putting one in any future non-htpc type builds - just don't see the point plus they just don't look good in the front of the case (IMO)
