Which one should I get:

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 670 2GB or the AMD Radeon HD 7970 OEM - 3 GB

Don't bring price into this, they're both roughly the same price at where I'm getting it from, in fact the AMD Radeon HD 7970 OEM - 3 GB is £10 cheaper. Remember the 7970 is OEM.

I'll be using it for hardcore gaming, I'll be modding the pants off skyrim.

Texture modded Skyrim may benefit from the 3 GB on the 7970.

Is the 670 reference as well if so i will let others help i cannot think of any good reason to buy a stock card other than it blows air out the case which doesn't prove much considers all the con runs hotter,louder cannot be overclocked as high the list goes on and on

why buy an oem card, i wouldnt do that. i would get the gtx 670, or a non oem version of the 7970, seems like skyrim runs better on amd cards, but im not 100% sure. i personally would go with the gtx 670
