I was thinking i7 3770k instead, but I don't know how to combine everything to where it's all compatible.

first of all, is audio production really that demanding. second, do you do more than 3 hrs of that stuff a day?

Running a lot of programs all at once. Needs a lot of storage for files. I'm planning on doing it all day.

you cant get top notch for the price. the components are pretty much the best you can get for the price range though

What would you recommend for a little more cash?

its a edit of the previous build since the 200R is out of stock

for more cash, id go for overclocking and a slightly better motherboard but then thats a hundred dollars

Which motherboard? And how do you over clock? And I heard it's dangerous to the computer. Also, with that setup could I use more than one monitor?

I don't think 3770 can over clock, but I think 3770k can. Which in your opinion is better?

if you are to overclock, get a k chip and a z77 motherboard

they are the same chips but the k can overclock

overclocking is not dangerous if you know what you are doing. many guides on how to do it

Could you tell me the pros and cons of overclocking?
m

Pros

-more performance for free after you buy the right hardware
-adds a tad bit of futureproofing where you can overclock to keep up a little

Cons'
-can reduce component lifespan if done incorrectly
-more heat (although a heatsink will be sufficient to dissipate it)

I'm new to all this, I'd hate to destroy my pc while overclocking..

I want my CPU to be very good at handling very demanding music programs and storage, would the setup you recommended allow me to use more than one monitor?

December 5, 2012 11:15:48 PM

yes. it will let you do work on one and game on another. but dont game on both of them at the same time

Could I use three to do music editing? And why do you recommend not using both for gaming?
m

you can run 3 monitors no problem

running 2 for gaming would not make sense when your cursor is in the middle of the 2 screens

Okay :) , if I get the k chip which motherboard is more suitable for it? Which heat sink will I need, and when I buy the components, should I myself try to put it together or get someone else to do it for me? This is my very first computer build and I'm not very pc savy, and if were to get someone to do it, how would I know if they didn't take my parts and equipped some cheaper stuff?

id just grab a good IPS display. asus is pretty good. if you want TN panels for the cheap, the vs228h-p will do the job. if you would like a IPS panel, look at the i2367fh from amazon
