More about audio production
  1. not exactly the best. post back in the new build section
  2. I was thinking i7 3770k instead, but I don't know how to combine everything to where it's all compatible.
  3. first of all, is audio production really that demanding. second, do you do more than 3 hrs of that stuff a day?
  4. Running a lot of programs all at once. Needs a lot of storage for files. I'm planning on doing it all day.
  5. Video Card and other things?
  6. Everything is top notch?
  7. you cant get top notch for the price. the components are pretty much the best you can get for the price range though
  8. What would you recommend for a little more cash?
  9. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/r1Eo

its a edit of the previous build since the 200R is out of stock

for more cash, id go for overclocking and a slightly better motherboard but then thats a hundred dollars
  10. Which motherboard? And how do you over clock? And I heard it's dangerous to the computer. Also, with that setup could I use more than one monitor?
  11. I don't think 3770 can over clock, but I think 3770k can. Which in your opinion is better?
  12. if you are to overclock, get a k chip and a z77 motherboard

they are the same chips but the k can overclock

overclocking is not dangerous if you know what you are doing. many guides on how to do it
  13. Which k chip and mother board would be the best combination?
  14. are you overclocking first of all?
  15. Could you tell me the pros and cons of overclocking?
  16. Pros

-more performance for free after you buy the right hardware
-adds a tad bit of futureproofing where you can overclock to keep up a little

    Cons'
-can reduce component lifespan if done incorrectly
-more heat (although a heatsink will be sufficient to dissipate it)
  17. I'm new to all this, I'd hate to destroy my pc while overclocking..
  18. as i said, many guides out there.

if you dont want to, you arent forced to
  19. I want my CPU to be very good at handling very demanding music programs and storage, would the setup you recommended allow me to use more than one monitor?
  20. yes. it will let you do work on one and game on another. but dont game on both of them at the same time
  21. Could I use three to do music editing? And why do you recommend not using both for gaming?
  22. you can run 3 monitors no problem

running 2 for gaming would not make sense when your cursor is in the middle of the 2 screens
  23. Okay :), if I get the k chip which motherboard is more suitable for it? Which heat sink will I need, and when I buy the components, should I myself try to put it together or get someone else to do it for me? This is my very first computer build and I'm not very pc savy, and if were to get someone to do it, how would I know if they didn't take my parts and equipped some cheaper stuff?
  24. easy. heres the components. ready for overclocking

  25. Nice, how is the audio playback? Audio connections? Does it have 5.1 or 7.1? Hdmi connections?
  26. yes it has all of that. if you want to, get a sound card like the asus dg 5.1
  27. What setup do you have, if you don't mind me asking?
  28. i 7 3770k
    asus z77-v Lk motherboard
    noctua nh-d14
8gb gskill 1866mhz ram (cheaper than 1600mhz when i got it)
    gigabyte gtx 670
    xfx xx 750w power supply
    corsair 550D case
    mushkin chronos deluxe 240gb SSD
  29. Is your setup better?
  30. of course it is. but its also more expensive
  31. Oh I see, you're holding back. How much does it cost?
  32. something like 1600 after tax. 1400 in canada.
  33. Damn... Sorry I asked. Lol what is your pc mainly used for?
  34. gaming and folding@home. and some other rendering work for school
  35. Okay, I've decided I'm going to buy the setup you recommended, but If I decide to over clock, which CPU Cooler will I need and will I need a bigger power supply?
  36. the setup i recommended is ready for overclocking. has the heatsink and the power supply is fine. overclocking doesnt kill your power supply
  37. What's the best software to keep my pc running fast?
  38. CCleaner can help delete those temp files that clog down your system.

download microsoft security essentials if you dont want to buy anti-virus. will work for most
  39. Cool, any keyboard and mouse best suited for music production programs that you know of?
  40. There is no keyboard and mouse i know of that is suited for music production. It all depends on personal preferences

  41. Best audio interface and sound card?
  42. asus dg 5.1 will do for most. if you are real serious about it, a asus essence stx will do it
  43. Is that for playback or for recording audio also?
  44. im no audio expert. you are supposed to be. check the product webpage at asus.com
  45. Okay, what do you know about monitors? What is the best brand in your opinion for gaming? How high does the video card scale to? 1080p or higher?
  46. id just grab a good IPS display. asus is pretty good. if you want TN panels for the cheap, the vs228h-p will do the job. if you would like a IPS panel, look at the i2367fh from amazon
  47. Which would you choose? They both look very nice to me.
