I was originally set on purchasing the Gigabyte GTX 670 some days back. Someone however, suggested the Sapphire Radeon HD 7970. Exactly same price on newegg right now.

So I'm wondering what are the pros and cons of GTX 670 vs Radeon 7970.

Games that I will be playing, Guild Wars 2, Dishonoured, Borderlands 2, X-Com, Torchlight 2.

Mostly MOBAs, RPGs, and MMOs.

Also, if i'm not taking price into account, which would be the better brand to go with? Reason I'm asking this is as I'm planning to buy on Black Friday, so prices are likely to change drastically.

The Gigabyte is a great card and a great value as a non-reference design at a reference price. Very quiet fans. It even won the "All Around Best" award in Tom's Hardware's roundup of 670's.

You're confusing the regular 7970, which is around GTX 670 level, with the 7970 Ghz editon, which is around the GTX 680 level and more expensive. It's a common misconception. Either way, they still won't do PhysX in Borderlands 2.
