How to open pdf files on windows 7

my pdf files do not have the adobe icon but the ie icon (e). they use to open using adobe x reader now when it asks OPEN with it does not open but returns a fastal error dde server.

Plain english how do i open a pdf file?

Right Click on PDF file
Click Open With
Find your adobe reader and select it
Press ok

Now all PDF's should be defaulted to open with Adobe reader.

Worst case scenario is just reinstall Adobe Reader.

when the box comes up 2 open pdf fies i clck adobe reader but nothing but a blue gray screen. it will not open. all my pdf files now have the ie logo affixed 2 them and not the adobe logo. i uninstalled the original adobe reader x and installed another one. There is no button or lionk 2 click "okay" after the process. ??????????????????

He won't need to, I have had this problem before. Follow the steps and it will work.

If it is no trouble, could you try and install "FoxItReader"? It is another PDF reader, it could be a problem with adobe.

my mistake previously, there is a okay link yet still it does not open the file.

if i install foxitreader do i need 2 uninstall adobe?

No you don't have to, you can have both installed.
