What should I upgrade in my build?

I want to upgrade something in my build but I am not sure what to upgrade or not to upgrade at all, here are my specs

MSI P67A-G45
Intel Core i5 2400 (Stock heatsink)
8GB DDR3 1333mhz
MSI Nvidia GTX 550TI
1TB SATA 7200rpm SATA 6gb/s

I was thinking of upgrading the processor to an i7 3770k or the GTX 550TI to an AMD 7870.

The CPU will be fine for a while. If you are gaming, you would see a decent improvement upgrading to a 7870 over your 550ti.

I would like to record with Fraps but I noticed it uses the FPS a lot, if I got a separate hard drive would it help with recording? Would I still lose some FPS?

It would only really make a difference if you changed to a dedicated SSD for recording. Upgrading the CPU to an i7 will help some but no matter what fraps will cause FPS drop even with the best hardware.
