Approximate purchase date: Black Friday - Christmas-ish time. (This November- December)

Usage: Gaming, Graphic Design, video editing, watching HD video

Current GPU + PSU: EVGA 9800 GT + Corsair CX600

Other specs: AMD Phenom II x4 970 @3.5Ghz, 8GB Corsair XMS3 @1600Mhz, Asus M5A87 Motherboard

Preferred sites: Newegg, Amazon, Frys, Tiger Direct

Monitor Resolution: Currently 1440 x 900, but getting a 1920 x 1080 monitor pretty soon.

Basically, I want to know if there is a big performance margin between the GTX 660 and 660 ti, and if the 660 ti is worth the extra ~$70.

Thanks! :D

From the reviews and benchmarks I have seen 4-5 fps in some cases is all you will get extra. $70 extra for that seems weak also keep your eye on the HD 7870 if that,s the price range your looking at.
Good luck!

the gtx 660 is a differnt gpu and has been toned down. there is a like 10-15 fps difference but the 660 ti is pretty much the best all around card. msi has better overclocking extras and a beefy cooler. Evga has the normal blower which is good for a small cases and one that looks quite cool. asus has a triple slot card and the best cooler. Gigabyte has the quietestcooler and a blue pcb.

The 660 generally doesn't best the 7870, but it does generally best the 7850 when both are at stock. However, the 7850 is also generally significantly cheaper, so that's not exactly a fair comparison like the 7870 to the 660 is which has two similarly performign cards at stock overall.

The 660 Ti is most certainly not worth the price premium. It doesn't perform too much better than the 660 despite a significant price premium and using more power. For around $300, no card is worth buying unless you overclock in which case the 7950s tend to beat the 660 Ti, so its a moot point with that card.
