Budget rig need suggestions

Hi. I'm new to the forums and i'm looking for some help. i need a new rig but i'm clueless on what to get, i want to build a new one so if anyone can please help me with this. Thanks!

also, i only need a CPU i have everything else

Budget Range: $300-$400 USD

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming - homework - projects - music - videos

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes


Parts Preferences: I would like to upgrade to Intel CPU or AMD whichever fits my budget

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: (no idea so)Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: 1440x900


And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: my old one (8 year old) broke

You do understand that intel cpu wont work on amd mobo and vice versa, so witj cpu you need mobo. Also list components that you already have.
