Greetings,

I am looking to construct a new pc for gaming, for a friend of mine who's current system is currently struggling with games, I doubt he is likely to upgrade for a while and is not computer hardware savvy, IE no overclocking, I have recently procured an i7 2600 (non K) that he can have so processor is not required, I also have 8gb of generic samsung ram, 1333mhz as well as a 320gb hardrive which I believe is adequate, however a small SSD for OS would be great.

my question is does XMP work on a non K cpu?, if so is it worth getting better ram?
I figure considering the likely use of a non stock cooler and whatnot, a case without a side window is preferred

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: this week

Budget Range: ( 900-1000) before rebates, after shipping (would prefer to buy in AUS)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, general menial tasks

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: (http://www.cplonline.com.au/, http://www.msy.com.au/, http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/default.php)

Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Parts Preferences: by brand or type: intel cpu already procured, possibly leaning towards Nvidia GPU but more interested in best FPS/$

Overclocking: on the gpu if worthwhile

SLI or Crossfire: quite unlikely

Your Monitor Resolution: preferably 1920:1080

Additional Comments: I believe he plays games such as borderlands 2, hitman absolution, skyrim etc, would like to be able to push 60FPS @1080p at decent settings, also I wont be offended if I am informed my choice of anything is utter garbage, thats why im here :)
also CPL has a deal on an asus DCII for $245 and I was wondering if that was an option.

Thanks in advance :D

Wasting money on nVidia, get a better performing AMD for less price.
PSU is on low side for modern demands of GPU and HDD combos, look for 600-650W as your minimum. Otherwise looks fine.
