Hi, I am looking for some advice on a new PC build. It's been several years since my last build and I haven't been keeping up on the tech. I was hoping to enlist the help of folks here to help me find the best fit for what I'm looking to do.
I am looking for a general use machine that also has a decent amount of storage. I am also looking for something I can get 4 to 5 years of use out of before I need to look at replacing it. I'm settled on the storage and SSD capacity that I want but I am struggling a bit with motherboards and video. I am also looking at building a Mini ITX machine to help cut down on physical space required as well.
-4 to 5 years of use before replacing
-mostly general purpose use but some gaming(not high end) as well
-storage/file server role for home network
-while budget is a consideration it isn't as important as quality/longevity
-leaning towards mini ITX system but not a requirement
Any advice on motherboard, CPU or video card would be appreciated. Also interested in hearing any sort of arguments against building a smaller form factor machine.
