I was wondering if anyone had a good 56k modem to recommend. I was looking into 3Com and U.S. robotics modems, and i can't really make up my mind on what to get. I'm really only going to be using this modem for the internet and the occasional game, nothing fancy like a voice modem.

Used to have a 56k VFD USR v.90 modem that worked really well.

PCI or ISA? I have a brand new KT7A, and my old modem is a ISA. My phone line, I suspect is bad. Living far from downtown, and in an old area. I Want to know what will be better, PCI or ISA Modem? I have already have lot's of trouble with my ZIP100 and my memory, I need something with NO CONFLICT! Thanx everyone!

PS My old modem is disconnecting all the time!

I forgot to ask but should i base my choice on v.90 or the v.92? i know they are standards and that v.92 is better, but does it greatly affect my modem performance? Does it actually matter which one i get? Thanks.

I recommend getting one based upon the Lucent chipset. I use a Actiontec PCI modem that I picked up at Circuit City and it was free after rebate. I then went to the 56K website and downloaded the V92 driver file. My regular V90 LT winmodem is now a V92 modem and it runs great on Windows XP Professional.
