Everytime I shut down my Windows 8 desktop computer, It stays on the shutdown screen for eternity (the screen with the little spiraling circle). It just recently started happening and was wondering if there are any solutions? My computer is only 2 months old btw.

Solution
start cmd.exe as a admin
run the command
powercfg.exe /energy

this will generate a report, look at the report and see what is blocking your shutdown request. Most often it is a shared media player that refused to allow the system to shutdown. generally the fix is to change the control panel power options for media to allow the system to shutdown or sleep while sharing or streaming media.
(sorry, I don't remember the exact name of the option)
