Windows won't use new graphics card

i just got a palit gts 450 and when i plug it in my pc wont use it, it only will play through the onboard one, i have set to use one the pci slot and it sets it back to auto when i save and quit ?? has anyone got a problem like this and fixed it?? i have try a different card and it works fine any help please

Is the 6-pin pci-e power connector plugged into the card? Id the primary video adapter set to PEG(pci-e) in bios?

Either A. the psu doesn't have enough juice to run the card or B. the card is DOA.

i have a 500w psu so that is enough but there is got to be a way to fix it

r u plugging ur monitor cable into the card?
Dumb question, but if ur not, then it won't use the card...

yes the cable is pluged into the card -.- i maybe a noob but i'm not that stupid
