How can I connect my old Ext. WD HD to my home network? Can I use a patch cable with Rj at one end and aUSB male at the other end? Will it work?

  1. No. it won't work that way. You need to use a computer to connect it or get a router that has a usb port made for sharing drives on it, like the netgear WNDR3700.
