I played bf2 for a week now, love everybits of the game. However, flying
plane and chopper still a frustrating experience. So i decided to buy a
joystick in the hope of flying the plane and chopper without crashing 5
seconds after i take off.

I picked up the Saitech Cyborg Evo last night. Installed the driver, and
the control panel--> game controller recognized it. Then i tried to set it
up with BF2. In BF2 control panel, i assigned all the axis and the buttons
and it seems fine. But once i m in the plane, i couldn't pitch up and down.
The throttle acceleration wasn't working... :( .. Tried different config
and still nothing works. Anyone had it working ? any tips or configs files
that i can use?

Many thanks!!

Saitek joysticks had some 'hacks' required to work in BF1945 (cuz EA is too
dim to allow axis 4 to be throttle and insisted on it be "throttle" ).

Anyway, chances are you have to do similar hacks to get the Evo working in
BF2. I suggest you go find the Saitek forum and see what is in there,
chances are there are fixes for it already.

Hi
I got a Saitek Evo and it works just fine.
I don't think I've done anything special to make it work in BF2. I just
assigned the axes to the proper way of movement. That means if for instance
you want to assign the throttle I first assigned it to accelerate by pushing
it up and afterward assigned it to de-accelerate by pushing the throttle
backwards. BF2 gives a message, just ignore it.
Try it.

I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo and was able to get it to work in BF2 w/o any
special hacks, so I'm not sure why you're seeing the problems that your
are. But, you should be able to get it to work w/BF2 outta the box (on
winxp anyway).
