DVI to HDMI for comp to TV use

Hey, I have a computer with a video card that only supports DVI. My tv only has HDMI. I was going to buy a basic converter online but then started reading about how people had lag issues using a DVI to HDMI cable. Is this common? Do you need to buy a higher quality cable to get by these issues? I want to be able to hook up to my tv and watch netflix and game from time to time. Is that reasonable with the simple converter?

  1. yes, that should work fine.
  2. You don't need an expensive cable, you need this: http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-HDMI-Adapter-Cable-Meters/dp/B001TH7T2U/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1350703024&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=dvi+to+hdmio

It works perfectly, it carries audio too. If your GPU has an audio-pass-through, you can send audio through the cable. If not it might need a small cable to be attached from the motherboard to the small holes on the side of the GPU; assuming it's an Nvidia card. There is no lag at all too.
